Build it and They Will Collaborate

Our newly transformed Learning Commons is now a flexible and responsive space to help our school focus on learning collaboratively. Fraser Middle’s Learning Commons becomes the physical space where inquiry, imagination, discovery and creativity come alive. Our students are building amazing projects like 3D interactive cells, green screen movies, virtual field trip, and augmented reality tasks. Students experience learning in dynamic ways with exciting opportunities for collaboration with other teachers and students. Within our Learning Commons, new relationships are formed between learners, new technologies are realized and utilized, and both students and educators prepare for the future as they engage new ways to learn.

Today’s students need to become critical consumers of information, effective problem solvers, capable decision makers and innovative communicators. The projects and tasks students are exploring in our learning commons builds the transferable skills that gives them the capacity to make a difference in this world. Change is a continuous process and providing our students with skills and abilities to flow with change is something we strive to do.

We look forward to boundless opportunities for growth as a result of the reimagining of our Learning Commons. Many learning experiences based on a cross-curricular perspective will realized at our school that recognize literacy, numeracy, knowledge, thinking, communication, and their applications as foundations for learning.
