Fine Arts

In the Fine Arts Exploration, the students are introduced to musical concepts such as melody by writing a remix of a well-known melody using the GarageBand app. They also do a unit on rhythm using djembes which are African drums as well as learning about other cultures through Indigenous drumming and singing. Grade 6 students are introduced to drama through theatre sport games and writing their own plays and performing them. Grade 7’s focus on a history and research unit, a marketing unit where they create their own band and album art. They also continue to work on rhythm with the djembes and have an introduction to guitar. The students also do an introduction to composition by doing an arrangement of their own on the GarageBand app.
